Buying a spa you have not sat in

    You lie back with your legs out in front of you, with a padded headrest at the top of the seat.

  2. Second lounger

    There are two loungers, not one, so two of you can stretch out at the same time instead of taking turns.

  3. Chair

    Upright seating with a padded headrest behind you and its own cluster of jets. It is the easiest kind of seat to sit and talk from.

  4. Chair

    Another upright seat with its own cluster of jets. The water pressure control handles on the shell let you turn the pressure up or down without getting out.

  5. Chair

    The third chair. Five adults is what the Manly Deluxe seats, and the layout above is how they fit.

  6. Footwell

    The middle is left open, so wherever you sit your legs have somewhere to go. Filled, the spa holds 1000 L of water.

Looking after it

Easy to look after, because the spa does most of it

Four parts do the work in the background, and the control system sets when the filtering and the heating happen. All of them come with the spa. Here is what each one does, and what is left for you.

Built-in ozone sanitiser

An ozone sanitiser injects ozone to oxidise bacteria and contaminants, so the water stays cleaner and you use noticeably fewer chemicals. It is standard on the Manly Deluxe.

A separate circulation pump

A high-speed pump drives the jets for strong, consistent massage pressure, with a separate circulation pump that keeps the water filtered.

Set-and-forget heater

A built-in heater holds your chosen temperature automatically. Set it once and the spa keeps itself warm, ready whenever you are.

Insulated, lockable cover

The free hardcover is insulated and locks with a key, so it holds heat in while the spa is sitting there unused.

The Balboa control system is time programmable, so you set the spa's purge cycles for filtering and heating to run when it suits you, including the window when your home solar is producing.
All five, the four parts above plus the control system, are included in the $5,999. None of them is an accessory you add on afterwards.
The water care range is numbered

Aqua Pulse Spas numbers its own water care products, so you are matching a number rather than reading a label. What each one is for:

  • #4Alkalinity IncreaserRaises the total alkalinity in the water, and lifts the pH with it.
  • #6pH ReducerBrings the total pH back down.
  • #8Spa ShockA non chlorine shock treatment. It raises the oxygen in the water so the chlorine works better.
  • #11Hardness RaiserIncreases the hardness of your water. Water that is too soft can be corrosive, and water that is too hard can lead to scale build up.
  • #12Spa and Pipe FlusherClears accumulated body oil and fat out of the pipes.

Aqua Pulse Spas publishes chemical instructions for the range, so the dosing is not something you have to work out. The team at Yatala will talk you through water care on the phone as well.

Being straight about it

The Deluxe is the simpler of the two. It runs 30 jets where the Platinum runs 54, and the Platinum adds an air blower, waterfalls, LED-lit headrests and an insulated cabinet on top of that. Everything else about them is the same size and the same shape.

The Manly Deluxe is also the cheapest five seat spa in our range, and the cheapest spa we sell with 30 or more jets. If you want the extra fittings rather than the extra saving, the Platinum is the one to ask us about on the phone.

Do I need an electrician to connect my spa?

Aqua Pulse Spas Deluxe Spas are all 10amp plug and play spas, so providing your home has been wired to meet Australian Standards you can simply plug the spa in to a normal power point with the supplied power lead.

If you have any doubts regarding the spa you are looking at buying, or the electrical connection in your home, you should contact a licenced electrician and have them check that the spa and the power connection complies to AS3000 and AS60335.2.60.

How much is delivery?

What keeps the running cost down?

Three things do the work. The free hardcover is insulated and key-lockable, so it holds heat in when the spa is not being used. The built in ozone sanitiser works on the water for you. And the Balboa control system is time programmable, so you can set the spa to heat in the window when your home solar is producing.

Can I view inside the spa's cabinet before buying?

It's very important that you can see inside the actual spa model you are looking at before buying a spa. Inspecting inside the spa's cabinet will give you a far greater concept of the quality of the product. Some dealers will have a spa open on display for you to inspect, but it might not be built the same way as the spa you are considering. Ask the dealer to open the cabinet on the spa you are looking at. Refusal to do so is generally a good indicator to the quality.

I'm busy. How much time do I have to spend on maintenance?

Spas do require regular maintenance and care but it's not something that will chew up a huge bulk of your time. As far as maintenance goes, it depends how much you use it. But there are a few general guidelines. It's a good idea to test the water on a weekly basis and clean your filters at least once a week.

What is covered by the warranty?

Eight separate terms, and one of the longest warranties in Australia. Lifetime structural, 10 years on the shell surface, 5 years on the jets, 5 years on the plumbing against leaks, 3 years on the heater, and 2 years each on the pumps, the control system and the touchpad.
